Calling an American Baptist Minister
and Church Reflections
Calling an American Baptist Minister is used by many churches as they enter the search process to find new ministerial leadership. In 2004 this fifty-year-old resource was completely revised and rewritten by the Rev. Mary L. Mild, now retired from the American Baptist Personnel Services. Since 2005 ABPS has made this crucially valuable resource available through Judson Press. Last year we added a CD version. To order a copy or copies (both print and CD versions included) for your search committee, call 1-800-4Judson.
The original ABPS document, Church Reflections, is incorporated in the new resource, Calling an American Baptist Minister. However, if your committee would like to use only the Church Reflections portion so that you may prepare an ABPS search, we have provided Web-based versions on this site. The document has been placed on the Internet primarily for Area Ministers and Search Committees. However, there are many aspects of this document that all congregations will find useful as they seek to sharpen their ministry. You may feel free to download the entire document and select the page(s) you need.
For those search committees that are using all or part of Reflections in the church Profile they are creating, and want to download the document into their computer so that they can use it, we have also included a copy of Reflections as a MS WORD document (version 9.0). Please understand that this is not a template and that the formatting of the document will require adjustment as you change it and add information to it.
If you are creating your own document from scratch and only want to read Reflections and use it for a resource, we recommend you download the PDF document.
