Discipleship Partners
Discipleship Partners, a national network of regional discipleship resource people, was created by Educational Ministries to assist regions in the disciple-making mission. In November 2007, a re-emergence of this effort began with 30 representatives from 11 regions who met at Franklin (Ind.) College to explore ways to network regional discipleship efforts. In November 2008, Discipleship Partners met at the Parchment Valley Conference Center in Ripley, W.Va., to develop a vision to guide the next phase of this ministry. The following vision statement was crafted:
Discipleship Partners is a passionate, diverse community drawn together to equip and empower the children of God to follow Jesus Christ.
Discipleship Partners is collaboration between National Ministries and American Baptist Churches USA regions. Regions are invited to identify individuals for this role. Costs of participation in annual training and networking events are shared by National Ministries and the regions. Regions decide how best to utilize the skills of Discipleship Partners; therefore, the program differs from region to region.
